Greylock Recovery is a substance use disorder (SUD) withdrawal management and residential treatment facility located in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The Behavioral Health Technician / Security Officer (BHT/Security) is a dual-role position responsible for ensuring the safety and security of Greylock Recovery’s residents, staff, and property during night hours, while also providing compassionate behavioral health support in alignment with our trauma-informed, person-centered approach.
This role requires vigilance in performing security rounds, monitoring building access, and responding to incidents, while also being able to engage appropriately with residents, de-escalate behavioral concerns, and assist the clinical team as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Security Duties
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled perimeter checks of the building and grounds throughout the shift.
Monitor entrances, exits, and surveillance systems to maintain facility security.
Enforce visitor and access control policies, verifying all entries and exits.
Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies, following facility protocols.
Document all security-related observations and incidents in the daily security log.
Work collaboratively with law enforcement or EMS when required.
Behavioral Health Technician Duties
Perform regular wellness checks on residents as assigned.
Monitor resident activity to ensure safety and adherence to program rules.
Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when behavioral incidents occur.
Provide emotional support to residents in distress, following trauma-informed care principles.
Assist residents with basic needs, such as getting water, blankets, or hygiene supplies, when appropriate.
Maintain accurate documentation of behavioral observations, incidents, and interventions.
Essential Functions
Act as a visible, approachable presence while maintaining professional boundaries.
Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times.
Participate in emergency response procedures (medical emergencies, fire, evacuation, etc.).
Communicate effectively with on-duty nursing staff, clinical staff, and other team members regarding incidents or concerns.
Complete all required reports (security log, incident reports, behavioral observations) before shift end.
Qualifications
Required: High school diploma or equivalent; ability to pass background check and drug screening.
Strongly Preferred: Prior experience in security, law enforcement, behavioral health, or residential treatment settings.
Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) or equivalent de-escalation training preferred.
Skills & Competencies

Ability to complete detailed, accurate documentation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Physical ability to conduct perimeter patrols, respond quickly to emergencies, and assist with resident interventions when necessary.
Compliance & Training
Must complete facility-required orientation, safety, and security training.
Annual re-certification in CPR, First Aid, infection control, and crisis intervention.
Adherence to all DPH, BSAS, Joint Commission, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
