Job Summary
Responsible for the complete upkeep and smooth functioning of the laundry department. The laundry attendant should possess knowledge of all equipment and how it operates. The position also works closely with housekeeping to ensure proper inventory levels are supplied to the floors in a timely and efficient manner.
Core Work Activities
- Operate and monitor washing, dry cleaning, and drying machinery, including adding chemicals and cleaning lint traps.
- Identify stained or damaged items and determine status for repair, spot treatment, rewash, or discard.
- Inspect cleanliness of articles removed from the washer, dryer, or dry-cleaning machines and place in clean linen carts.
- Fold cleaned articles into designated size, either by hand or using folding machine.
- Maintain accurate records of items laundered.
Physical Activities and Requirements
- Frequently move and transport objects weighing less than or equal to 40 pounds without assistance and in excess of 40 pounds with assistance.
- Regularly repositions self to collect objects from floor and overhead level.
- Must stay in a stationary position and/or move for extended periods across an entire work shift.
- Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, blood borne pathogens, etc., including using Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Constantly determines accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of assigned work and inspects facilities or structures.
- Frequently communicates and exchanges information with co-workers, including in environments with moderate noise levels.
Performs other duties as assigned and needed.
