Overall Function: Lead QC Tech leads quality control activities to ensure cellulose insulation products meet company and regulatory standards. Provides oversight, training, and technical support to quality technicians and production teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily QC testing, inspection, and documentation processes.
- Train, guide, and schedule quality control technicians.
- Review and approve test data, reports, and product certifications.
- Monitor production processes to ensure consistent quality and compliance.
- Investigate non-conformances and lead root cause and corrective action activities.
- Maintain and improve quality control procedures and testing standards.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and HSE teams on quality issues.
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory compliance efforts.
- Ensure that all lab equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
- Promote safety, continuous improvement, and adherence to company policies.
- Hourly production lab testing and data entry for Quality Control tracking
- Second shift lab tech training.
- Keeping lab facility clean and organized
- Assist Maintenance Manager with cataloging and organizing replacement production facility parts.
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned or associated with the responsibility of the position.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality testing methods.
- Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a production environment.
- Capable of performing basic production lab tests on products.
- Excellent communications skills, being able to work with customers, suppliers, production workers, maintenance personnel, plant management, and corporate personnel.
- Good writing skills and experience with MS Outlook, MS Word, data entry.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead by example and foster a culture of quality and safety.
- Ability to multi-task.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or science degree preferred.
- 3 years of quality control or manufacturing experience, including leadership.
- Strong knowledge of quality testing methods and documentation practices.
- Experience in quality control, including SPC. Experience with Six Sigma is a plus.
- Experience in the building products industry or related areas a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, including weekends when necessary.
- Good visual acuity.
- Ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment and be capable of lifting and handling a 30-lb. bag of material.
- Ability to handle some noise and dust in the manufacturing facility.
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
