What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mosheim Elementary - Primary Teaching Assistant (full time w/ benefits) position at Greene County Schools?
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. and passed state test or has a minimum of two (2) years of college. NCLB requirement.
- Must be of high moral character.
- Must be neat, courteous, and dependable.
Reports To: Principal, Supervising Teacher
Supervises: N/A
Job Goals:
To assist the teacher in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole.
Performance Responsibilities:
- In person job attendance
- Scores and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
- Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Assists the teacher in class preparation and record keeping.
- Supervises students in non-instructional activities such as lunch, free play, and rest time.
- Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Capacity and Ability Requirements:
The usual job demands require the following physical requirements: speaking, some lifting (up to 50 lbs.), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, and physical dexterity.
Terms of Employment:
Nine (9) months year. Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan.
Evaluation Procedures:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
