What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investment Research Analyst position at Green Zone Capital?
Company Overview
Green Zone Capital is a private investment management and research firm based in Atlanta, GA. We focus on public markets across three core themes: compute & data, energy & resources, and global monetary shifts. Since 2019 we’ve compounded capital using a combination of deep fundamental research, technical “Green Zone” frameworks, and an AI/LLM-powered research stack. We work with a small group of partners and investors while building institutional-grade strategies, reports, and tools.
Role Overview
We are seeking an Investment Research Analyst Intern to support our Chief Investment Officer and Chief Research Officer with deep research into equities, macroeconomics, and our investment portfolio holdings. This is an unpaid, part-time internship designed for students or early-career candidates who want hands-on exposure to institutional-style investing, rather than classroom theory. You’ll help us generate ideas, refine theses, and prepare client-facing research while learning directly from the executive committee.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with fundamental and technical research on existing and prospective holdings
- Analyze company financials, earnings calls, and industry reports to support investment theses
- Help maintain internal watchlists, models, and investment memos
- Contribute to investor letters, fact sheets, and research reports used with partners and investors
- Monitor macroeconomic data, sector trends, and news relevant to GZC’s core themes
- Use LLM tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, NotebookLM) to accelerate reviews and idea generation
- Join periodic research/strategy calls and summarize key takeaways for the team
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in finance, economics, business, data science or related fields
- Strong interest in public markets, economics, and long-term investing
- Basic understanding of financial statements and valuation concepts (revenues, margins, P/E, FCF, etc.)
- Solid analytical and writing skills; able to turn research into clear notes or slides
- Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets; experience with Python/R or data tools is a plus, not required
- Self-starter who can work independently, manage time, and meet deadlines in a remote/hybrid setup
What You’ll Gain
- Direct mentorship from the Founder & Chief Investment Officer
- Exposure to real portfolio decision-making: idea generation, sizing, and risk management
- Experience contributing to professional-grade investor communications and research
- A tangible project or body of work you can showcase on your resume at the end of the internship
- Recommendation potential and consideration for future paid opportunities with GZC or other firms
