What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investment Analyst position at Garry Executive Search?
Garry Executive Search has been retained by a well-established, independent RIA with offices in Atlanta and Austin to recruit an Investment Analyst for its Atlanta office. The firm serves ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth families, business owners, and charitable organizations under a strict fiduciary standard.
This is an excellent opportunity for an analyst with 2 to 10 years of experience who wants sophisticated investment work, direct mentorship, and visible impact on a small team. Portfolios here are customized, not simply model-driven, and the analyst is close to every step: research, modeling, rebalancing and trading recommendations, and reporting.
The role reports to the Managing Director in Atlanta and supports portfolio management, research, and the day-to-day needs of a demanding client base. It is an investment and portfolio management seat, not a business development or sales role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support the Managing Director with day-to-day investment and client service needs
- Prepare modeling, rebalancing, and trading recommendations across highly customized client portfolios, and analyze and execute trades
- Take on increasing ownership of Tamarac-based rebalancing after extensive practice and close review
- Analyze low-basis and inherited assets, tax-sensitive positioning, estate planning overlays, and client-specific constraints
- Research investment categories and securities, and monitor macro, political, and market developments
- Prepare quarterly written updates for the investment team and support client performance reporting
- Assist with financial planning and strategy analysis using MoneyGuide Pro, and handle post-meeting follow-through
- Work with the operations team on new client onboarding and ongoing client requests
Background They're Looking For
- 2 to 5 years as an investment analyst or in a comparable role, with public markets experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field, with a reputable university preferred
- Active Series 65 or applicable investment adviser registration (Series 7 not required)
- Proficiency in Tamarac, Morningstar, and Excel; MoneyGuide Pro or eMoney a plus
- Wealth management, investment management, or private bank background; RIA experience is relevant but not required
- CFP or CFA progress is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail, someone who double and triple checks their own work and takes accountability when something is off
- Proactive and self-starting, identifies problems and proposes solutions rather than simply escalating them
- Quick learner who retains training without repeated instruction
- Ambitious but patient, comfortable with close review early on and motivated to earn trust
- Committed to working 100% in office in Atlanta, no remote option
Compensation & Benefits
- $80,000 to $110,000 base salary, depending on experience
- Annual bonus of 0% to 15% of base, based on performance
- 401(k) with an approximately 3% safe-harbor contribution, plus discretionary profit sharing that has historically been paid each year based on firm profitability
- Health coverage, with the firm paying half of employee-only premiums
- Two weeks of vacation, plus flexibility for occasional personal and family needs
- Support for additional licenses, certifications, and designations
- Compensation that can be revisited quickly for exceptional impact
Why This Role Stands Out
- Sophisticated client work with real investment complexity, including privately held businesses, low-basis and inherited assets, and estate planning considerations
- Direct mentorship from a seasoned Managing Director, with daily exposure to how portfolio decisions get made
- A customized, active approach, where models are a starting point and portfolios are rebalanced quarterly
- Visible impact on a small team, where your work is seen and valued and ideas for improving workflows are welcome
- A clear path to more, with client interaction and meeting attendance encouraged over time as trust is earned
