The Fixed Income Department is seeking a High-Grade Bond Trader/Analyst to complement its investment team working directly with, and under the mentorship of, the Managing Director of Fixed Income Investments. The ideal candidate for the position is an investment professional with a keen interest in the capital markets. In addition to executing the purchase and sale of fixed income securities for the benefit of CIC client portfolios, this role requires the ability to communicate internally and externally as a subject matter expert on both the municipal and taxable bond markets. Attention to detail, the ability to work in a group setting, think creatively, multi-task, problem-solve, and embrace new technology, are necessary attributes for success. The trader/analyst will cultivate and maintain relationships with Broker-Dealer coverage, operating with a high degree of professionalism and integrity as a street-facing representative of the firm.
Responsibilities Include:
Trading
· Bond purchase and sale transactions for the CIC Intermediate Core, Municipal, and Enhanced Cash investment strategies - direct with broker-dealer counterparties and on electronic trading platforms (Bloomberg, MarketAxess, JP Morgan Markets, ICE TMC, and MuniBrokers)
· Become proficient in using the proprietary Municipal and Core investment Models
· Become proficient in using internal Portfolio Accounting (APX) and Trading (MOXY) systems
· Equity purchase and sale transactions as a backup to the Equity trader(s)
Research
· Employ the CIC fixed income investment philosophy and approach to Municipal and Corporate credit evaluation
· Monitor and communicate Municipal and Corporate credit, sector, and general market developments which affect current holdings and investment approach regularly to the Managing Director of Fixed Income Investments
· Make timely credit evaluations which inform purchase decisions and identify inherited portfolio items to be sold
· Become an active participant of the Bond Policy team which works closely with the Chief Investment Officer to establish portfolio strategy
Candidate Experience and Attributes Include:
· Bachelor’s degree; post-graduate business degree preferred
· CFA strongly preferred, or work/intent toward completion a plus
· Financial services/investment experience is valued, though drive, aptitude, and work ethic matter significantly
· Bloomberg experience preferred
· Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Solution-oriented and proactive communicator (verbal and written)
Compensation is comprised of a combination of salary, bonus, paid vacation, healthcare coverage, and retirement benefits. The starting salary range is $110,000 - $135,000. Bonus and other benefits are valued at $30,000 per year.
