Position Summary
Our Greens Family of Companies is growing, and we are seeking a Controller to assist with day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced, inventory-driven environment. This position will work closely with our CFO and accounting team to support our increasing accounting needs. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, comfortable working in the weeds, and highly organized to help produce timely and accurate financial reporting across multiple systems, businesses, and locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily accounting activities to support timely month-end close
- Reconcile bank accounts and multiple credit card accounts across entities, ensuring accurate coding and working with cardholders to properly categorize expenses
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP
- Utilize Epicor ERP for transaction analysis, reporting, and data accuracy
- Analyze and reconcile cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory balances
- Handle intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple entities
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting schedules
- Assist with audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation
- Identify and support process improvements within accounting workflows
- Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable process and team
- Assist with maintenance of sales tax records and filings
- Assist the CFO with projects and other tasks, as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Preference will be given to those with accounting experience in a retail, hardware, or similar inventory-driven environment and/or hands-on experience with Epicor ERP (or similar manufacturing ERP systems)
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and accrual basis accounting
- Experience in QuickBooks, or similar software
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple entities and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to identify inefficiencies, suggest improvements, and take initiative while collaborating effectively with the team
- Excellent communication abilities
- Occasional travel between our locations may be required
