Position Overview
GNEM is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Material Handler to support warehouse and manufacturing operations at our advanced lithium-ion battery separator production facility. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, production supplies, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will have warehouse or manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to operate material handling equipment while maintaining inventory accuracy and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely load, unload, transport, and store raw materials, finished goods, and production supplies using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered industrial equipment.
- Deliver materials to production lines according to manufacturing schedules to support continuous operations.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documentation.
- Accurately perform inventory transactions using warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and RF scanners.
- Pick, stage, package, and prepare finished goods and materials for shipment.
- Organize warehouse inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles and maintain proper material identification and traceability.
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventory activities to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Inspect material handling equipment before use and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization by following 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations while handling materials and operating equipment.
- Support Quality and Production teams by identifying damaged, non-conforming, or improperly labeled materials.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on warehouse efficiency, inventory accuracy, and material flow.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years of warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or material handling experience.
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other powered industrial trucks.
- Basic computer skills with experience using warehouse management or ERP systems.
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents, inventory records, and work instructions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification).
- Experience with SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems.
- Experience using RF scanners and barcode inventory systems.
- Previous experience in battery manufacturing, automotive, electronics, chemical processing, or other high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb throughout the work shift.
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment.
- Ability to work in warehouse and manufacturing environments with varying temperatures and around moving equipment.
Working Conditions
