Duties
- Provide excellent care for animals in the clinic, including feeding, bathing, and exercising pets.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by holding animals securely and providing necessary instruments.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, ensuring proper dosage and timing.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, and surgical areas.
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinarian.
- Perform laboratory tasks such as collecting samples for testing and preparing specimens for analysis.
- Support pet owners by providing information on pet care, medication administration, and post-operative instructions.
- Assist with record keeping, including updating patient files and managing appointment schedules.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal care environment is preferred but not required.
- Strong skills in animal handling, restraint, and husbandry practices.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and team member effectively.
- Must be willing to learn how to draw blood on various animals, perform radiographs.

Veterinary Technician Assistant Responsibilities:
- Observe animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease, and discontent.
- Properly handle patients as required and appropriately restrain patients as directed.
- Walk hospitalized dogs several times a day according to hospital protocol to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder.
- Feed, Medicate, take vitals and provide Tender Loving Care to hospitalized patients under the direction of the doctor or Veterinary technician.
- Discharge and admit patients at the request of receptionists, practitioners, and veterinary assistants and technicians. Ensure that patients are clean and fresh smelling prior to discharge.
- Under the supervision of veterinarians or technicians, assist with the administration of medications, post- operative care or preparation of samples for laboratory examination, collect specimens, Run Lab work , clean instruments, fill prescriptions as authorized.
- Clean and disinfect and maintain kennels, cages, runs, and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent. Perform general cleaning in other areas of the hospital to control the spread of disease.
- Launder and dry towels and blankets.
- Record information such as feeding schedules, appearance, behavior of patients that are hospitalized.
- Exhibit a technical knowledge of products and medications sold, including dietary products. Demonstrate the ability to explain and educate clients on products and answer their questions regarding product purchase/use.
- Assist in surgery and exam rooms.
- Must be able to confidently talk to clients on the phone and in person.
- Will have to learn our practice management software. Will be answering phone, putting in charges.
- Must be able to learn feline and canine vaccine schedule.
- Must learn venipuncture and radiograph techniques
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 1 year minimum Vet assistant experience required
- Assist in creating and capturing content for clinic social media platforms, including patient highlights, educational posts, and behind-the-scenes team activities, in accordance with clinic policies and client consent.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to develop and share engaging, educational social media content that promotes preventative care, highlights patient stories (with consent) and supports practice growth.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
