What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Staff position at Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA?
The Front Desk / Membership Services Associate is the first point of contact for members and guests. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with memberships and program registrations, processing payments, and supporting the overall operations of the facility.
**Responsibilities**
- Proper opening and closing procedures at the beginning or end of the day and securing the facility at closing time.
- Greeting of individuals entering the facility and ensure the scanning of membership cards and cards for insurance paid programs, and/or documenting insurance paid visits.
- Set up new memberships and provide general membership information in-person or by phone.
- Handle program registrations.
- Receipt of all payments -- membership fees, programs, and cash sales.
- Answering telephone, providing requested information or refer caller to another staff person.
- Proper reconciliation of cash drawer at the end of shift.
- Complete projects as requested by Executive Director or Membership Director.
- Accept and hold valuables at desk for individuals.
- Process membership information packets, financial assistance forms, schedules.
- Give building tours to potential members and guests.
- Know procedures for all emergencies.
- Assist with orientation of new employees and volunteers.
- Keep desk area or work area clean and organized.
- If you are unable to work, it is your responsibility to get a replacement and to inform your supervisor as soon as possible.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
**Qualifications**
To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must have the following qualifications to successfully perform the position:
- Understand the GSV Y mission, the purpose of its programs, and be committed to the corporate operating principles.
- Have a positive, friendly personality. Be able to relate to staff, members, participants, parents, volunteers, and board members and have the capacity to identify situations and proactively resolve issues that may arise from time to time.
- Good written, oral and communication skills
- Good computer skills and are familiar with operating office equipment.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS**
- High school diploma/GED equivalency
All YMCA staff must have, or be in the process of obtaining, CPR/AED and First Aid certification, and Child Abuse Prevention Training
