Reports To: Director of Student Services

Salary Range: $90,000 to $105,000

**Employment is contingent upon formal position approval by the GCVS Board of Trustees and final budget

appropriation for the 2026-2027 school year.**

Job Summary:

The Evaluation Specialist reports to the Director of Student Services. The Evaluation Specialist serves as the lead

for the diagnostic process, providing data-driven oversight and psychoeducational expertise to the Evaluation

Team. This specialist provides high-level diagnostic expertise and psychoeducational testing to ensure GCVS

compliance with state and federal Special Education mandates.

The Evaluation Specialist works collaboratively with the Director of Student Services, the Principals, the

Coordinators of Student Services, Evaluation Team Leaders and Teachers but does not carry a standard

instructional caseload or perform ongoing therapeutic counseling, focusing instead on the integrity of the

diagnostic and evaluative process. The Evaluation Specialist does not formally evaluate teachers and provides

non-evaluative administrative support to GCVS staff.

Responsibilities Across K-12:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations/assessments to determine student eligibility

(Initial and Three Year) for Special Education services.

  • Review records and analyze complex diagnostic data to provide teachers and administrators with

actionable insights into student learning profiles.

  • Collaborate with appropriate staff to ensure that all evaluation practices align with MA state standards

and virtual proctoring best practices.

  • Prepare longitudinal data reports to measure the impact of specialized interventions across GCVS.
  • Research and recommend evidence-based diagnostic tools and accommodations specifically validated for

the virtual environment.

  • Organize professional development for staff on interpreting evaluation data and implementing specialized

instructional strategies.

  • Manage the district’s evaluation timeline to ensure 100% compliance, particularly during peak referral

periods.

  • Provide detailed reports and feedback to families and GCVS teams.
  • Analyze district-wide benchmark data to identify "at-risk" trends before they become formal Special

Education referrals.

  • Act as the primary GCVS point of contact for external neuropsychological reports. Review private

evaluations and "translate" the findings into actionable classroom strategies for GCVS.

  • Conduct vocational and transition assessments for older students (Ages 14–22) to provide data-driven

recommendations for post-secondary goals.

  • Organize and facilitate webinars for parents on topics such as "Understanding Your Child’s Evaluation"

or "Executive Functioning in a Virtual Environment."

Responsibilities with Teams:

  • Administer standardized testing (Cognitive, Achievement, and Social-Emotional) to individual students

via secure virtual platforms.

  • Observe students in the virtual classroom to provide feedback that promotes engagement and identifies

barriers to learning.

  • Assist Evaluation Team Leaders (ETLs) by providing the "foundation" for IEP development and meeting

facilitation.

  • Provide consultation to teachers to understand the "why" behind student learning behaviors.
  • Analyze individual student data to recommend research-validated interventions for specific learning

disabilities.

The statements above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. They are not

intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree and must hold a valid School Psychologist Massachusetts DESE license.
  • Experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations within a virtual learning environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MA Special Education regulations and the methodology of virtual

assessment.

  • Ability to apply current research to instructional programming and IEP development.
  • Skilled in the use of multimedia, computer technology, and digital assessment platforms.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, confidential records and meet strict statutory deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex data to varied

educational backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated strengths-based approach to students and a commitment to being a support to teachers.
