Salary Range: Based on salary scale as agreed upon between GCVS and AFT Massachusetts, AFL-CIO GCVS Professional Staff. $57,443.30 to $93,722.31
Position Summary:
GCVS is seeking a dynamic and versatile High School World Language Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both French and Spanish, with the ability to teach various levels of both languages. As a member of the GCVS World Language Department, you will inspire students to achieve linguistic proficiency and cultural competency through immersive, student-centered virtual instruction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Virtual Instructional Excellence: Lead synchronous (live) and asynchronous French and Spanish courses, ranging from introductory levels to advanced levels (Spanish IV/French III).
- Curriculum Adaptation: Design and implement rigorous, proficiency-based lesson plans that leverage virtual tools and authentic digital resources to meet ACTFL standards.
- Asynchronous Support: Facilitate asynchronous language pathways, ensuring students have the flexibility to meet the Massachusetts four-year world language recommendation.
- Student Engagement: Foster an inclusive online classroom culture that encourages verbal participation, risk-taking, and cultural empathy.
- Progress Monitoring: Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to track student progress, provide timely feedback, and intervene to support student success in a remote setting.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the World Language Department to align curriculum across levels and participate in virtual faculty meetings and professional development.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in French, Spanish, or World Language Education required (Master’s preferred).
- Certification: Valid Massachusetts teaching certification in French and/or Spanish Grade 5-12.
- Language Proficiency: Advanced to Superior proficiency in either French or Spanish (ideally both).
- Digital Fluency: Experience with virtual teaching platforms (e.g., Schoology, Zoom, Google Workspace) and a strong ability to troubleshoot and innovate within a digital classroom.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills tailored for a remote environment with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Physical/Travel: Ability to operate a computer for lengthy periods.
Location Preference:
Applicants residing in the Massachusetts area are strongly preferred, with the ability to travel to locations across the state and attend GCVS events as needed.
