FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $55,000 - $60,000
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, Energy Services, supports GCP’s Vice President of Sustainability and Energy Services in executing the organization’s energy-efficiency and demand-response programs. This role is the operational engine of GCP’s energy services work, managing program pipelines, business relationships, and performance data.
Greater Cleveland’s energy future depends in part on businesses taking meaningful action within their own four walls, through energy audits, efficiency improvements, and demand response participation. The Manager plays a direct role in making that happen, serving as the primary point of contact for businesses moving through GCP’s energy programs and ensuring that every audit, referral, and enrollment is tracked, followed up on, and converted into measurable regional impact.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the energy audit pipeline, including outreach to prospective businesses, scheduling and coordinating assessments with auditing firms, and maintaining consistent follow-up with businesses from initial inquiry through completed audit.
- Track audit outcomes and post-audit implementation, documenting which businesses act on recommendations, what efficiency measures are adopted, and what energy and cost savings result.
- Maintain GCP’s network of energy efficiency contractors, onboarding new partners, and ensuring the network remains a reliable resource for businesses seeking to implement audit recommendations.
- Systematize and manage the referral pipeline from completed energy audits to Curtailment Service Provider (CSP) enrollment.
- Monitor C&I demand response enrollment progress against GCP’s targets, document barriers to participation, and work with the VP and CSP partners to develop strategies for increasing enrollment rates across the region.
- Support the development and execution of GCP’s small and mid-sized enterprise (SME) energy efficiency program, managing logistics, participant outreach, and program coordination from launch through ongoing delivery.
- Develop and maintain accessible program materials and resources that help SMEs understand their energy options, navigate available tools, and take action
- Maintain comprehensive program records across GCP’s energy initiatives and produce internal reports on program outcomes.
- Analyze program data to identify patterns, gaps, and opportunities and surface findings to inform outreach and program strategy.
- Manage ongoing relationships with businesses enrolled in GCP’s energy programs, providing timely follow-up, answering questions, and connecting businesses to the right resources at each stage of their energy journey.
- Support the VP in planning and coordinating business-facing energy convenings, workshops, and educational sessions, handling logistics and participant coordination in partnership with GCP’s events team.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required in business, environmental science, public policy, engineering, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of professional experience in program management, energy efficiency, sustainability, economic development, or a related field.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Familiarity with commercial and industrial energy programs (including energy audits, demand response, or utility incentive programs) preferred but not required; willingness to develop subject matter knowledge on the job is essential.
- Demonstrated experience managing programs or projects with multiple stakeholders, tracking performance data, and meeting deadlines.
- Experience in business outreach, client relationship management, or membership engagement a plus.
- Data-driven mindset with experience maintaining program records, producing reports, and using data to identify trends and inform decisions.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to track businesses and relationships simultaneously without losing momentum or detail.
- Clear and professional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain technical energy concepts in plain language to business audiences.
- Relationship-building orientation, with a proactive, service-minded approach to working with businesses at various stages of engagement.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort using artificial intelligence (AI)–enabled tools to support productivity, analysis, communication, and decision-making, with appropriate judgment and adherence to responsible use guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM or program tracking platforms preferred.
