What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Aide (Teacher Aide) position at Greater Amsterdam School District?
The Greater Amsterdam School District is seeking a Teacher Aide/Pool Aide for the 2026-2027 school year at Lynch Middle School.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe aquatic environment for students and staff at all times.
- Act as a lifeguard during instructional class periods, maintaining position on the pool deck nearest to class activity areas.
- Assist in enforcing pool rules and regulations to maintain safety and discipline.
- Uphold punctuality through strict adherence to the assigned work schedule.
Administrative & Instructional Support
- Organize and tabulate daily pool patron counts for monthly reporting to the Aquatics Director.
- Assist Physical Education (PE) teachers with:
- Locker and shower room supervision before and after class.
- Filing and organizing course worksheets and swimming record sheets.
- Photocopying instructional materials as needed.
- Use and operation of instructional equipment and handicap lift, if necessary.
Communication & Emergency Response
- Demonstrate knowledge of GASD Pool Staff Lines of Communication.
- Ability to summon emergency assistance through:
- Working knowledge of the 911 Emergency System.
- Familiarity with the Lynch Pool Emergency Action Plan Flowchart.
Additional Duties
- Answer telephones and take accurate messages.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support class instruction or general aquatic operations.

Job Requirements :
High School Diploma/ GED
Certifications Required
- Current American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguarding Certification
- Current ARC First Aid Certification
- Current ARC CPR Certification
- Encouraged:
- Current ARC Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification
Pay: From $18.89 per hour
