Summary of Position

The Great Outdoors Foundation seeks a dynamic, organized, and driven relationship builder to serve as the full-time Polk County Conservation Development Manager. The Polk County Conservation Development Manager acts as the primary Polk County Conservation (PCC) fundraising, administrative, data, and donor communications liaison for the Great Outdoors Foundation (GOF) Development team. This role will lead fundraising on behalf of PCC for all capital campaigns and operational revenue, in collaboration with staff, board members, and partners of PCC and GOF. Reporting to GOF’s Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, the Polk County Conservation Development Manager will provide comprehensive support for all PCC fundraising initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

·       Acts as the primary fundraiser for PCC, working with corporations and individual donors to secure operational and capital campaign gifts, in addition to event sponsorships.

·       Researches and prepares proposals for PCC in coordination with guidance from the GOF Development Specialist & Vice President of Strategic Partnerships.

·       Creates and maintains PCC Development Dashboards in coordination with GOF staff for all projects, which can include but is not limited to Athene North Shore Recreation Area Operations, Sleepy Hollow, PCC volunteer efforts, and the PCC endowment.

·       Serves as an administrative and communications liaison to PCC staff, volunteers, consultants, and vendors on issues related to PCC Fundraising and Development.

·       Oversee identification of new donors and ongoing donor stewardship for PCC.

·       Provides grant writing support for PCC, including grant tracking, strategizing, and reporting, in addition to small-scale grant writing. Oversee contracted grant writer in coordination with PCC staff and GOF.

·       Works alongside Marketing staff from GOF and PCC to create and execute fundraising events for PCC, including building sponsorship packages, prospecting and securing sponsorships, and event planning.

·       Responsible for working with the GOF Development team to ensure accurate donor data, acknowledgements, and tracking of all pledges and gifts for PCC, including creating process documents for future usage.

·       Creates and prepares pledge, financial, and other reports upon request in tandem with the GOF team.

·       Collaborates with Marketing teams to develop and distribute annual appeals for PCC projects.

·       Collaborate with Operations to fulfill annual audit requirements as needed.

·       Attend GOI Board meetings and present to the Board as appropriate.

·       Answers PCC donor inquiries promptly via email, phone call, and mail.

·       Performs other duties as assigned by the GOF Vice President of Strategic Partnerships.


Qualifications:

·       Ability to maintain confidentiality.

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

·       Ability to build and maintain collaborative and effective relationships with donors, volunteers, board members, staff, vendors, and partner organizations.

·       Strong task management, with the ability to prioritize and solve problems proactively on short notice.

·       Excellent human relations skills and good understanding of group and political dynamics.

·       Strong organization and attention to detail.

·       Professional oral and written communication skills.

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

·       CRM experience and/or experience/coursework in computer science or related field preferred. Experience in Bloomerang preferred.

·       Initiative and ability to work independently— self-starter.

·       Experience in Asana a plus.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred with 3-4 years’ experience in fundraising, nonprofit, and/or administrative work.


Benefits & Work Environment:

The Great Outdoors Foundation offers a flexible work environment with a minimum in-office requirement of 4 days per week in the first year of employment and 3 days per week after the first year of employment. Office days will be split between GOF and PCC at the direction of the VP of Strategic Partnerships. Half-day Fridays are offered on the notion work is complete for the week.
