Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Tooling Specialist to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing tooling and fixtures used across our production processes. Your expertise will ensure precision machining, efficient fabrication, and high-quality assembly of components. Duties
Follows all safety guidelines, policies and procedures as required.
- Develop and modify tooling designs using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD to support manufacturing needs.
- Program equipment as required.
- Set up and operate equipment with precision, adhering to standards.
- Conduct inspections of tooling and machined parts utilizing calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain detailed schematics, assembly instructions, and fabrication documentation for tooling components.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot tooling issues related to programming, fabrication, or assembly processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming
- Skilled in GD&T principles for precise measurement and quality control of machined parts.
- Hands-on experience with tooling, saws and molders.
- Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing processes including assembly, hand tools usage, and fabrication methods.
- Ability to read schematics and drawings accurately.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges.
- Strong math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement in tooling efficiency.
- Prior experience in the lumber industry is highly desirable.
