The Emergency Services Trauma Coordinator is responsible for the daily administration of the hospital's trauma, stroke, cardiac and ED continuing care initiatives and ensures continual readiness for re-designation; and assist the Director of Emergency Services with the administrative and supervision responsibilities of the Emergency Department. For the trauma, stroke, cardiac and ED continuing care patient populations, the coordinator evaluates the clinical care provided; provides education of hospital staff on current evidence-based practice; monitors hospital staff and physican requirements for continued certification; develops, maintains and reports on ongoing quality improvement projects; serves as a liaison with EMS system; and works with multi-disciplinary teams to develop plans of care for high-utilizers of the emergency department and medically fragile patients who require close coordination of care. The coordinator is responsible for the trauma, stroke and cardiac registry and will monitor the accuracy of data entry and utilize the registry data to provide reporting as requested on program performance to hosspital administration and appropriate committees. Coordination with the Director of Emergency Services and the Public Relations department will be required to disseminate education to the community. Job Requirements: Current Washington State RN License; BSN required or willing to obtain within three (3) years; Previous ED/Trauma experience is required, Current BLS, ACLS certification required. PALS, TNCC certification required within 6 months of hire; minimum three (3) years clinical experience in Emergency Department or Critical Care nursing; minimum two (2) years demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience required. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with multiple disciplines both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated knowledge of, competency in, or ability to learn effective management of special patient populations including trauma, cardiac, stroke and ED continuity of care. Ability to work variable shifts as needed to make contact with staff working in a 24 hour environment. Ability to provide direct patient care. Special Qualifications: Accurate spelling, arithmetic, accurate medication calculations, effective organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; experience with policies and procedures and performance improvement processes; proficient with Microsoft Windows programs, including Word and Excel; ability to adapt to and utilize new software programs including electronic medical documentation and data abstraction and tracking software, both PC and web based.
