Position Overview
Graybill Medical Group is actively recruiting a Hospitalist Physician (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine) to join our growing inpatient medicine team in Escondido, California.
This Hospitalist opportunity offers flexible scheduling and the option to choose between:
- Full-Time W2 (benefits eligible)
- 1099 Independent Contractor (flexible shifts)
Ideal candidates are experienced in acute care, inpatient medicine, hospitalist workflows, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Compensation
- $130 – $170 per hour (based on shift)
Schedule | Hospitalist Shifts
- 7-on / 7-off schedule: Work seven 12-hour shifts, then enjoy seven days off, with the option to pick up extra shifts for additional income.
- Or 10–14 shifts per month (1099 model)
- Average of 15 encounters per 12-hour shift
Shift Options:
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Mid Shift: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Swing Shift: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Night Shift / Nocturnist: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Option for block scheduling (full weeks of days or nights)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient care including admissions, rounding, and discharges
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions in hospitalized patients
- Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests
- Collaborate with specialists, nursing, case management, and interdisciplinary teams
- Respond to rapid response and code events
- Complete accurate EHR documentation (H&P, progress notes, discharge summaries)
- Support care coordination, discharge planning, and transitions of care
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited program
- Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Active, unrestricted California medical license
- DEA registration
- BLS/ACLS certification
- Prior hospitalist or inpatient experience preferred
