Overview
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support and modernize a complex enterprise database environment. This role focuses on improving database availability, scalability, automation, and performance across multiple database technologies while partnering closely with application development teams to build reliable, high-performing solutions.

What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and support highly available, scalable database environments.
- Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and schema improvements.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to establish database best practices and improve application performance.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
- Enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Manage database security, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Support database deployments through CI/CD pipelines and automated release processes.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the database platform.
- Participate in an on-call rotation while contributing to initiatives that reduce operational support needs through automation.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in database administration, database engineering, or site reliability engineering.
- Strong experience administering enterprise database platforms such as SQL Server, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and cloud-hosted SQL databases.
- Experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical production environments.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, or Kubernetes.
- Proficiency with scripting languages including Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience implementing database monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably Microsoft Azure, including managed database services.
- Expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Experience supporting DevOps methodologies and CI/CD processes for database deployments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across infrastructure and development teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
- Relevant database or cloud certifications.
- Experience supporting geographically distributed or multi-region database environments.
