Position Summary
As a Senior Tax Accountant, the ability to go beyond the numbers and deliver top-tier tax preparation, planning, and advisory services to clients across diverse industries is critical to day-to-day success. This role is pivotal in delivering tax-efficient financial insights to clients, maintaining financial records, and ensuring annual compliance.
A successful candidate in this position will work effectively with our team to train, mentor, and manage staff, and will also work independently, developing critical tax skills and contributing to the firm's overall success by consistently exceeding expectations.
The ideal candidate will possess research skills, coupled with an analytical and intuitive mindset. Sound business judgment, a mind for critical thinking and problem solving, and thorough organizational skills are just a few of the qualities necessary to carry out this role.
Key responsibilities:
1. Prepare tax returns, tax planning files, and tax estimates for individuals and businesses.
2. Provide end-of-year client accounting services, including tax-specific bookkeeping, S-Corporation planning, payroll processing, and financial report preparation.
3. Serve as a main point of contact for clients, building strong relationships centered on Grapp Lerash’s core values.
4. Lead and manage multiple tax engagements from start to finish. Ensuring completion within budget and timelines.
5. Possess a passion for meeting deadlines while exceeding expectations, all while handling multiple priorities.
6. Review staff assigned engagements, providing feedback, training, and mentoring.
7. Demonstrate advanced technical tax knowledge and begin to develop an area of expertise.
8. Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead implementation of tax software stack.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or in a similar field. A desire to obtain CPA license or an active CPA is a plus!
2. 3 or more years of experience in the public accounting industry.
3. Proficiency in CCH Axcess, QuickBooks Online, Gusto, and Microsoft Excel.
4. Demonstrated agility by serving multiple clients simultaneously.
5. Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadline expectations.
6. Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and extreme discretion.
7. Strong office and interpersonal skills and an adaptive intellect.
8. Ability to recognize problems, ask the right questions, think critically, and contribute to identifying solutions.
9. Confident, credible, and effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.
10. Ability to travel as needed, which may approximate 5-10% of time.
11. Willingness to get the job done. This is an exempt position, so hours that exceed a standard 40-hour work week may be required during busy times.
