Responsibilities
- Install and configure telecommunication systems, including fiber optic cables, Ethernet networks, telephony systems, and low voltage wiring.
- Perform fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal signal transmission and network performance.
- Use hand tools and mechanical knowledge to run cables through walls, ceilings, and conduits safely and efficiently.
- Set up and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and other networking equipment to ensure reliable connectivity.
- Conduct field service visits to diagnose issues, repair damaged cabling, or upgrade existing systems according to client specifications.
- Test electrical circuits using tools like ohmmeters to verify proper function and safety standards are met.
- Follow safety protocols related to telecommunication installations and electrical work while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician or cable installer within the telecommunication or networking industry.
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques and network installation procedures.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, Ethernet cabling standards, and computer networking fundamentals.
- Knowledge of telephony systems, low voltage wiring practices, and electrical safety standards.
- Ability to operate hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, drills, and testers effectively.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with electrical experience is highly desirable for complex installations.
