Senior Accountant – ERP Integration & Inventory (Fuels Industry)
- Location: Anchorage, Alaska (Hybrid)
- Duration: 12-Month Contract
- Rate: Up to $80–$90/hour
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the monthly close following the fuels business closing calendar
- Prepare and post journal entries (inventory accrals, intercompany transactions, prepaids, leases, amortizations)
- Perform GL reconciliations (inventory, accruals, clearing accounts, prepaids, bank accounts)
- Validate data integrations between Ascend, Vertrax, and Oracle, ensuring mapping accuracy and resolving discrepancies
- Support system transition activities, including testing, reconciliation, and process documentation
- Monitor and validate fuel inventory quantities, valuation, and cost allocation (terminal and vessel)
- Manage PO accruals and reversals, ensuring accurate cut-off and cost recognition
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions across entities
- Support fuel tax filings (Form 730), ensuring compliance and accuracy
- Generate monthly financial and operational reports for terminals and cost centers
- Identify and implement process improvements related to closing, reporting, and system integrations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong experience in general ledger and inventory accounting
- Hands-on experience with ERP integrations and data mapping
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Proven ability to analyze complex data, reconcile discrepancies, and improve processes
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fuel distribution, logistics, or marine operations
- Direct experience with Ascend, Vertrax, and Oracle systems
- Knowledge of fuel excise tax and Form 730 filings (highly preferred)
Contract Details
- Full-time contract (12 months)
- Hybrid work model in Anchorage, Alaska
- Flexibility required during month-end close cycles and system cutovers
- Level: Intermediate to Senior (execution-focused, non-leadership)
Salary : $80 - $90
