ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide guidance to individuals through stretches, exercises, therapeutic activities and daily living tasks.
- Follows occupational therapy treatment plans and assists occupational therapists by evaluating individuals’ daily living skills, physical abilities and other needs.
- Performs routine tasks for individuals such as stretches and how to utilize therapy equipment.
- Provides support, counsel, advice, training and education for individuals, family, caregivers and other professionals on the importance of being consistent with therapy treatment plans.
- Efficiently assembles extensive documentation on individuals’ progress, care services and therapy adjustments, when necessary, that aligns with standard medical documentation and facility protocol/procedures documentation.
- Collaboratively work with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Must display excellent active listening skills, critical thinking skills, verbal/written communication skills, time management skills.
- Must display compassion, integrity and respect to all individuals.
- Supporting additional responsibilities and/or tasks as needed for the department.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physically, be able to lift, transfer and assist patients while providing therapy interventions during physical activity.
- Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25lbs, including assisting individuals when needed.
- Ability to visually be able to perform job duties, including examining individuals and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Licenses/Certifications: Must hold an active and in good standing Wisconsin Occupational Therapy Assistant License and CPR Certification.
- Follows/adheres to organization, federal, and state regulations and guidelines, including Resident/Client rights
- Maintains neat, well-groomed appearance, adhering to dress code of organization/program
