ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide guidance to individuals through administering manual exercises, non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, assisting in physical activities, and daily living activities.
- Implement physical therapy treatment plans under the direction of the physical therapist by helping improve individuals’ mobility, manage pain, and regain functionality.
- Assistant physical therapist by evaluating individuals’ progress during treatments.
- Assist individuals with devices such as crutches, canes, prostheses, wheelchairs, etc.
- Provides support, counsel, advice, training and education for individuals, family, caregivers and other professionals on the importance of being consistent with therapy treatment plans.
- Efficiently assembles extensive documentation on individuals’ progress, care services and therapy adjustments, when necessary, that aligns with standard medical documentation and facility protocol/procedures documentation.
- Collaboratively work with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Must display excellent active listening skills, critical thinking skills, verbal/written communication skills, time management skills.
- Must display compassion, integrity and respect to all individuals.
- Supporting additional responsibilities and/or tasks as needed for the department.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physically be able to lift, transfer, and assist patients while providing therapy interventions during physical activity.
- Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25lbs, including assisting individuals when needed.
- Ability to visually be able to perform job duties, including examining individuals and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program.
- Licenses/Certifications: Must hold an active and in good standing Wisconsin Physical Therapy Assistant License and CPR Certification.
