Grace Lutheran Church is searching for the next person to fill the position of Preschool Director.
Starting date for this position will be August 1, 2026. The first 45 days will be working alongside current Preschool Director finalizing plans for upcoming year and training.

Full Time staff position: Salaried, exempt, compensation based on experience.
Reporting Manager: Executive Director of Parish Operations
The Director works closely with the church staff and the Director of Children and Family Ministry in coordinating activity calendars and in the development of specific programs. The Director also establishes quality relationships with children, parents, teachers, volunteers and specific groups in the community. This position supervises teaching personnel.
Overview:
The Director will serve with a professional and courteous demeanor reflecting Grace’s mission of “Transforming Lives Through Christ”. S/he ensures that each child is respected and recognized as a unique gift from God. The Director is expected to develop and promote the foundation of love of learning and to maintain a nurturing environment for each child - advocate their specialness and ensure that educational and developmental needs are met.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Support Church and Preschool activities and mission. “Passing on the Faith”, communication of all church and Sunday School activities to Preschool families.
- Oversee daily activities/operation: teaching of curriculum, security of children and staff, facility maintenance and cleanliness, meeting staff needs/requests, maintain a professional team atmosphere and foster a Christian atmosphere of respect and love.
- Ensure special classes are being taught - Music and Movement, Spanish/Sign Language and Phonics. Plan and implement Bible Story-time with church staff.
- Safeguard all financial assets (all fees, fundraisers, donations, etc.). Ensure they are received, reported, recorded and deposited accurately.
- Approve and charge to proper accounts all preschool receipts and expenditures.
- Review the monthly Financial Report and provide feedback to the Executive Director.
- Hire all Preschool teachers and substitutes, ensuring all pre-employment tasks are completed, maintain personnel files, payroll data, attendance data, write and conduct performance appraisals and oversee continuing education, and hold staff meetings.
- Schedule “In-House Field Trip” presenters, volunteer activities including the Little Free Library and student interns, and classroom tutors. Communicate updates to parents on a daily and weekly basis through emails, Facebook and parent/teacher meetings.
- Work with Communications Director on Preschool website update, public relations, and advertisement of Preschool and class openings.
- Plan and implement all Preschool fundraisers including the annual Wreath Sale.
- Create, implement, communicate, and enforce all Parent and Staff Handbook policies and procedures including Safety and Security guidelines.
- Purchase educational materials, supplies, furniture and equipment as needed. Monitor inventory and ensure supply room is organized and accessible to all staff.
- Communicate and advocate to the church staff, congregation, families and the community regarding activities and needs of the school.
- Organize and assist with all fund raisers, develop preschool calendar and coordinate all activities with the church calendar, coordinate summer camp program, review scholarship applications and organize parent open house.
- Compose annual reports, plan new year programs and curriculum, provide tours and interview prospective families, oversee registrations, create class rosters and maintain class size to teacher ratios and set fees with Executive Director.
- Attend Church staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
- Plan and implement monthly Preschool staff meetings, staff appreciation luncheons and snacks, birthday acknowledgements, and coordinate educational classes and meetings (i.e. TOTS Meetings, CPR training, conferences, etc.)
Basic Qualifications:
- A college degree in related field or preschool certification.
- Three to five years’ experience as a preschool teacher or administrator.
- Effective communications with all ages - especially children.
- Proven ability to supervise teaching staff.
- Creative skills to develop programs and curriculum.
- Detail oriented and highly organized.
- Computer skills are essential.
