Key Responsibilities
- Perform machine setups by loading raw materials, selecting and installing appropriate tooling, and making necessary programming adjustments on CNC Swiss machines.
- Operate CNC Swiss machines to produce precision machined metal and plastic parts according to blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Monitor machine operations, ensuring optimal performance, and make adjustments as necessary.
- Conduct regular quality checks using precision measuring instruments (such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges) to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
- Identify and address any deviations from specifications.
- Identify and resolve machine issues, including tool wear, programming errors, or mechanical malfunctions.
- Apply problem-solving skills to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes, improve productivity, and meet production targets.
- Provide insights and suggestions for continuous improvement.
- Adhere to established safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC Swiss machines to ensure their proper functioning.
- Accurately document setup and production information, including programming details, tooling selections, measurement data, and any deviations or adjustments made during the process.
- Maintain detailed records for traceability and future reference.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CNC Swiss Setup Machinist or a similar role, demonstrating a strong understanding of CNC Swiss machines and their operation.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC Swiss machines, including loading materials, adjusting tooling, and programming.
- Familiarity with CNC programming languages and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to ensure accurate part dimensions and tolerances.
- Experience and proficiency in operating and setting up lathe machines, with a particular emphasis on Swiss-style lathes.
- Familiarity with the unique characteristics and requirements of Swiss machining processes.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of G-code and M-code programming languages used in CNC machining.
- Ability to read, interpret, and modify G-code programs for specific machining operations.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles and the ability to interpret geometric tolerances on technical drawings.
- Understanding the impact of GD&T on machining processes and the ability to ensure compliance with specified tolerances.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve machine issues, such as tool wear or programming errors.
- Ability to make adjustments and perform maintenance tasks to optimize machine performance.
- Excellent attention to detail to maintain high-quality standards and ensure precision in machining operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address issues that may arise during setup or operation.
- Ability to think critically and make decisions independently or as part of a team.
