We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant or Certified Paralegal to join our team in Lake Charles, LA!
SCOPE: Assists attorney in all aspects of case management. Maintains communication with clients regularly. Provides clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact checking.
JOB DUTIES:
- Gather/analyze intake information & relevant documents associated with new files and enter into case management software to open a case
- Initiate claims, verify coverage, maintain communication with insurance adjusters
- Maintains regular communication with all clients
- Prepare documents and correspondence such as letters of representation, demand letters, billing inquiries, etc.
- Collect documentation of all damage sustained such as medical records
- Assists in drafting legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files.
- Develops and maintains Attorney calendar
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of legal assistant experience required
- Paralegal certification a plus
- Knowledge of personal injury preferred, but not required
- Experience calendaring in Outlook
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Must be capable of working in a high volume work environment
