General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited university in business administration, hospitality, or related major
• 2-year degree plus 8 years of management, operations, sales, or marketing experience
• OR 4-year bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrable leadership and operational experience in upscale or full-service environments
• Proven track record managing financials, guest satisfaction, and team performance
  
  

General Manager Preferred Background & Skills

• Prior experience as a hotel general manager, ideally in luxury or full-service properties
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset; ability to identify innovative revenue streams and local partnerships
• History of progressive career growth and exceptional results
• Flexible schedule availability, including weekends, holidays, and evenings
  
  

General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead all facets of hotel operations, driving financial performance, guest satisfaction, and brand excellence
• Develop and execute strategic business plans to maximize profitability and market share
• Inspire, coach, and mentor a team of leaders and associates, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth
• Build strong community connections, elevating the hotel’s presence in Detroit and beyond
• Oversee quality assurance, property maintenance, and safety standards to deliver an exceptional guest experience
