Executive Director – Multi-Campus Long-Term Care (Wisconsin)
Role Overview
The Executive Director provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across multiple long-term care campuses within a county-operated system. This role oversees a diverse continuum of care, including:
- Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF)
- State-only skilled nursing beds
- Community-Based Residential Facilities (CBRF)
- Residential Care Apartment Complexes (RCAC)
- Adult Family Homes (AFH)
- Independent and assisted living residences
Executive Director - Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership for clinical, residential, and operational functions across multiple facilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate strategic initiatives and operational plans
- Oversee multi-facility operating and capital budgets, staffing models, and resource allocation
- Ensure full regulatory compliance and serve as the primary liaison with oversight agencies
- Lead risk management programs including audits, investigations, quality initiatives, and emergency preparedness
- Interpret and negotiate contracts in collaboration with legal counsel
- Build trusted relationships with residents, families, government departments, health systems, advocacy organizations, and community partners
- Represent the organization in local, regional, and statewide initiatives
- Lead recruitment, retention, and workforce development strategies
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in service delivery and staff management
- Oversee capital projects, expansions, renovations, and new facility openings
- Participate in system-wide initiatives and integrated care projects
- Provide steady, decisive leadership during crisis situations to ensure operational continuity
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local long-term care regulations and licensure requirements
- Proven financial management and budget oversight experience
- Demonstrated success leading multi-site healthcare or long-term care operations
- Strategic planning and execution expertise
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Effective crisis management and problem-solving capabilities
- Proficiency with electronic health records, budgeting systems, and related technologies
- Commitment to inclusive, respectful, and team-oriented work environments
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, public administration, business, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of five years of senior leadership experience in healthcare or long-term care, including multi-site oversight
- Licensed Nursing Home Administrator or eligibility to obtain licensure within six months of hire
- Eligibility or certification in CBRF administration strongly preferred
- Prior experience in public-sector or county-operated systems preferred
- Ability to travel between facilities and respond to after-hours or emergency needs
- Successful completion of state-mandated background requirements
