What are the responsibilities and job description for the Store Manager position at Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies?
Job Purpose
This position is responsible for ensuring an efficient, profitable store by year-end by developing a team of employees, achieving sales and budget goals. Responsible for opening/closing store, daily bank deposits, keeping register stocked with adequate change, addressing customer/donor needs/complaints and completing the necessary administrative functions. Supervises store employees.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED required
Experience: Two years of supervisory experience required along with at least two years of retail experience.
Clearances: Must be able to obtain acceptable results for required background checks, including Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania Criminal History Check and Department of Human Services- FBI Fingerprints.
Skills, Abilities, Duties, And Responsibilities
Ensures the store is open and operational during designated hours of operation.
Maintain store staff by supervising, training, motivating, recruiting, hiring, firing and disciplining staff w/guidance from Director of Retail.
Provide a safe, clean and attractive store by maintaining signage, completing daily inspections, merchandising and practicing good housekeeping. Delegating these tasks to employees as needed.
Makes sure the store is stocked and the interior and exterior of store is neat, clean and orderly. This includes making sure staff are processing donated merchandise, placing new stock on the sales floor, pulling the old stock off the sales floor, cleaning the store, returning out-of-place merchandise to its proper location and straightening merchandise that has been disarranged.
Ensure that the store meets or exceeds daily production goals in both wares and textiles.
Maintain and improve knowledge by networking, visiting other retail stores, attending workshops/seminars, and reading professional publications.
Conduct workplace orientations for new hires. Ensures that all personnel packets are complete, scanned to HR and all personnel documents are maintained in a securely.
Maintains confidentiality; ensures correct information goes only to the appropriate person(s).
Providing excellent customer satisfaction by building community relationships.
Observes safety procedures and personnel policies and ensures compliance by employees.
Acts as a positive role model for employees, trainees and customers in all respects of professional development.
Ability to work effectively with other Goodwill store employees and agency employees
Knowledge of men s, women s, and children s clothing, as well as furniture and household items
Must operate the cash register proficiently. Uses cash register to total sales, accepts payments and authorizes voids, returns, exchanges, and credit for merchandise.y
