Job Purpose

The Department of Political Science at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, invites applications for its Adjunct Faculty Pool within the Department of Political Science. We seek qualified applicants to teach Introduction to Comparative Politics.

The successful candidate will have the enthusiasm, classroom presence and skills to engage students and should be committed to pursuing excellence in teaching and promoting an inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will be fully responsible for course planning, delivering class sessions, creating and collecting assignments, submitting grades, using Canvas learning management system, and will be available to students for office hours for one hour per week per course (or more if needed depending on the course, program and department). Essential Functions

  • Prepare, plan and teach assigned courses - (Essential)
  • Hold office hours (amount determined in consultation with Department Chair) - (Essential)
  • Create and grade assignments, including submitting grades according to established deadlines - (Essential)
  • Teach one or two sections of Introduction to Comparative Politics. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

M.A. (or equivalent) in Political Science.

Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.

Evidence of the ability to use effective classroom strategies and pedagogies to advance equity, inclusion, and belonging.
