Job Purpose

Provide short-term mental health services, crisis intervention, and outreach to support student well-being; collaborate with campus partners; maintain high standards of clinical practice and documentation; and contribute to departmental initiatives, training, and supervision.

Essential Functions

  • 60% - Mental Health Services
    • Provide short-term, culturally responsive mental health services to individuals, couples, and groups, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches and comprehensive assessment to address a broad range of student concerns.
    • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, upholding professional, ethical, and regulatory standards, while collaborating with Health & Counseling Services providers and campus partners to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
    • Respond to students experiencing crisis by delivering brief intervention services focused on safety, stabilization, and connection to appropriate ongoing supports.
  • 15% - Administrative
    • Develop and support mental health policy and quality management projects.
    • Engage in and support department strategic planning initiatives.
    • Support the onboarding and mentoring of counseling staff.
  • 15% - Outreach Activities
    • Develop and provide educational resources for students based on data, population needs, and current trends in college mental health.
    • Develop and provide education for healthcare staff and other campus partners based on best practices, current mental health care research, and current trends in college mental health.
  • 10% - Supervision
    • Receive supervision if needed for licensure.
    • Provide clinical supervision to counseling interns when licensed and trained in supervision.
    • Consult with the Director of Psychological Services regarding supervision cases and caseloads.

    In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.

    Certifications And/or Licensures

    Licensure or license-eligible as an LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, within 12 months of hire.

    Skills & Abilities

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Outlook, Excel, and Word, and other GU specific platforms/software.
    • Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Knowledge of various therapeutic modalities and interventions.
    • Extensive experience in clinical counseling, including a focus on complex cases.
    • Experience with outreach and presentations.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Licensed as a Mental Health Counselor Associate or successfully become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate within 3 months after hire.
    • Demonstrated experience providing short-term, solution-focused therapy in a university or similar setting.
    • Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging in clinical practice.
    • Familiarity with crisis intervention, risk assessment, and case management within a collaborative team environment.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and consultation skills with students, faculty and staff.
    • Experience delivering outreach, prevention, or psychoeducational programming on mental health topics.
    • Knowledge of developmental and mental health issues affecting college students.
    • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and sound clinical judgment in a fast-paced, high-demand setting.

    Physical & On-Campus Requirements

    In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 5 days/week

    The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $24.85 - $29.82 per hour

    Pay Range

    Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): 24.85

    Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): 31.05

    Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): 37.26
