Job Summary

Porters perform an important role in creating a pleasant shopping experience at Golden Gate Petroleum, Inc. The Porter is responsible for maintaining the appearance and safety of our locations, keeping order of the inside and outside of the facility. This role also serves customers, employees, and suppliers in a professional and courteous manner while performing the basic functions of the job and other duties as needed.

Essential Functions

· Maintain a clean and safe environment for all customers, employees, and vendors.

· Provide a positive customer experience by delivering friendly and polite service.

· Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping, mopping, washing, wiping, dusting, weeding, trimming bushes, removing waste, litter, and debris, etc. from the lot and store on a routine basis to ensure equipment and facilities follow company standards.

· Follow all safety regulations and company policies as necessary to complete tasks.

· Stay up to date with all safety training and practices, escalating concerns as appropriate.

· Package bags of ice for sale and ensure coolers are fully stocked per guidelines.

· Cross train to assist other team members with cashiering, deli duties, or other duties as needed.

· Proactively maintenance facilities and equipment to ensure proper function and to prevent damage.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

· Ability to learn proper cleaning methods and techniques.

· Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.

· Strong customer service, communication, and time management skills.

· May need to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.

· Must be at least 18 years of age. Some locations may only hire 21 and over.

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

· Work experience in a similar role is preferred.

· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

· Successful completion of on-the-job-training.

Physical Job Requirements

· The person in this role must be able to position themselves (ex: kneel, crawl, crouch down, climb a ladder, etc.) to fulfill the essential functions of the role more than half the time.

· The person in this position must be able to maneuver (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) up to 50 lbs.

· This position operates machinery and/or equipment that requires the constant use of hands/fingers/wrists (ex: typing, sweeping, slicing deli meat, operating the Point of Sale system, etc.) all the time.

· This position is exposed to chemical materials, outdoor weather conditions, and non-climate controlled workspaces more than half of the time.

· This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position less than half the time.

· This position has no travel requirements.
