Job Summary:
The Equipment Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all company equipment, including trucks, trailers, and material handling machinery, complies with federal, state, and company safety regulations. This role supports the freight logistics operation by maintaining equipment safety standards, conducting inspections, and promoting a culture of safety across all operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections of all freight equipment (trucks, trailers, forklifts, etc.) to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and safety audits.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to address safety issues and equipment defects promptly.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to DOT, OSHA, and company-specific safety policies.
- Investigate equipment-related incidents or near misses and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide safety training and guidance to drivers, warehouse staff, and other equipment operators.
- Support the implementation of preventive maintenance programs and safety initiatives.
- Assist in preparing reports for management on equipment compliance and safety performance.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in equipment safety, fleet management, or freight/logistics operations.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other relevant safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills to work with drivers, maintenance teams, and management.
- Ability to perform physical inspections and operate company equipment safely.
- Familiarity with electronic inspection and reporting systems.
- Certification in Occupational Safety or Fleet Safety (e.g., CSP, OSHA Safety Certification)
