Responsibilities:
- EHS Responsibilities
- Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify and assess chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic, and operational hazards.
- Develop, recommend, and help implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce risk and prevent workplace incidents.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action follow-up.
- Educate employees on safety protocols, hazard recognition, and emergency response procedures.
- Prepare and deliver training programs to enhance safety awareness and compliance.
- Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, coaching, and reinforcement of safe work practices.
- Collect and analyze EHS data, including incident rates, near misses, and safety observations.
- Utilize EHS management software for monitoring, reporting, and ensuring accurate and complete data.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and internal safety policies.
- Engage with employees at all levels to gather feedback and address safety concerns.
- Support continuous improvement of safety programs, procedures, and site readiness.
- SQF / Food Safety Responsibilities
- Conduct routine food-safety, sanitation, and hygiene inspections across all warehouse areas, including storage, dock operations, pest control, and employee practices.
- Assist in maintaining SQF documentation, including program updates, verification records, supplier documentation, training files, and corrective actions.
- Prepare facilities for SQF audits and customer food-safety visits, ensuring that all documentation, logs, and physical conditions meet program requirements.
- Support traceability exercises, mock recalls, hold/release program checks, and allergen control verification.
- Train employees on SQF basics, GMPs, hygiene expectations, and food-safety procedures.
- Partner with the Quality team to review CAPAs, verify implementation, and ensure sustainable compliance.
- Monitor housekeeping and sanitation processes to ensure alignment with SQF and customer expectations.
- Assist with vendor approval, visitor management, and documentation control as needed.
- Multi-Site Support
- Travel frequently to all Chicago warehouse locations to conduct assessments, support training, validate controls, follow up on corrective actions, and prepare each site for audits.
- Provide onsite support during customer, regulatory, and SQF audits.
- Ensure standardized processes across sites and escalate gaps that need leadership intervention.
- Collaborate with Regional Managers and Site Leadership to keep each location audit-ready at all times.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Health Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and other regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience conducting workplace safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Proficiency in EHS management software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster employee engagement.
- Ability to design and deliver safety training programs.
- Analytical skills to interpret EHS data and recommend improvements.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Previous experience in a logistics or warehouse environment preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a MUST.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Health Sciences, Food Science, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Foundational understanding of SQF, GMPs, food-safety programs, or HACCP concepts. (SQF training can be provided if needed.)
- Experience conducting workplace safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Experience supporting or maintaining documentation for quality, SQF, or food-safety programs preferred.
- Proficiency in EHS or quality management software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to design and deliver safety or food-safety training programs.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Willingness to travel frequently across all Chicago sites.
- Previous experience in a logistics, warehouse, or distribution environment preferred.
- Ability to support audit preparation, documentation reviews, and corrective action follow-up for SQF and customer audits.
- Comfort working with document control, verification logs, traceability exercises, and standard operating procedures.
- Bilingual is a must

- Previous experience with SQF, BRC, HACCP, or other food-safety programs.
- Prior experience in supply chain or logistics environments.
- OSHA 30 General Industry Certification
Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
