Per Diem Paraprofessional Independence, MO | School-Based Support | Flexible Schedule
This role offers compassionate professionals the opportunity to provide 1:1 support to students in a structured school environment. The position is per diem and as-needed, with shifts assigned based on school coverage requirements. Ideal candidates are patient, reliable, and eager to help students academically, behaviorally, and socially.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small-group assistance under teacher and staff direction
- Support students with daily routines, classroom transitions, and participation
- Implement behavior support plans and follow Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as needed
- Assist with mobility, supervision, and personal care when necessary
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Current TB test as required by school district guidelines
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist with lifting
- Must have current clearances or willingness to obtain prior to employment
Preferred Experience:
- Background in special education, behavioral health, child care, or school settings
- Experience supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
- Certifications such as CPI, PMT, or RBT are advantageous but not required
- Strong teamwork, patience, and reliability
