Overview
Go Fast Campers (GFC) is built on a foundation of quality, adventure, and exceptional customer experience. The Part-Time Soft Goods Sewing Specialist supports the in-house soft goods department (“Fabric Town”) by producing high-quality sewn and bonded components that meet production standards. This role focuses on executing builds accurately and efficiently to ensure downstream production teams receive components on time and to spec.
Key Responsibilities
Safety
- Follow and promote all GFC safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation in Fabric Town.
- Safely operate sewing machines, bonding equipment, and associated tools.
Quality
- Produce sewn and bonded components that meet or exceed GFC quality standards.
- Inspect materials and finished goods for defects, inconsistencies, or quality concerns.
- Follow established quality control processes and escalate issues when identified.
Production Execution
- Cut, sew, and assemble soft goods components according to work instructions and production priorities.
- Accurately follow build documentation, patterns, and technical drawings.
- Meet daily and weekly production targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Support production flow by completing assigned work on time and to spec.
Equipment & Workspace Management
- Operate and maintain sewing machines and bonding equipment (e.g., walking foot, bar-tack, zig-zag, hot air welders).
- Identify and communicate equipment issues or maintenance needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, materials, and workspace.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Fabric Town and Production team members to support overall workflow.
- Communicate clearly regarding production status, delays, or material issues.
- Support cross-functional teams by ensuring components are ready for downstream production.
Qualifications & Skills
- 1 year of experience in textile production, soft goods manufacturing, or industrial sewing (preferred but not required).
- Familiarity with stitch types, bonding methods, and soft goods construction.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, patterns, and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good time management and ability to stay on task in a production environment.
- Comfortable operating industrial sewing equipment (walking foot, bar-tack, zig-zag, hot air welders) is a plus.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with willingness to learn and adapt.
- Passion for the outdoors, off-roading, or overlanding is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
- Ability to lift or move fabric rolls, bins, or components up to 40 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate sewing equipment and inspect seams/materials.
- Comfortable working in a moderate-noise production environment with fabric dust, adhesives, and repetitive motion (PPE provided).
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
