Role Summary
The Operations Leader (Production Supervisor) is responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations within assigned production areas, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives. The role requires hands-on leadership within a heavy industrial environment, with accountability for workforce supervision, equipment reliability, and process optimization. This position operates primarily during standard weekday shifts but requires flexibility to support off-shifts and weekends as needed. The role involves cross-functional coordination and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and maintain production standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production operations ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards
- Lead and supervise hourly workforce, providing technical guidance and performance management
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production cycle time and efficiency
- Ensure equipment availability and reliability through maintenance coordination Troubleshoot and modify electrical and mechanical systems to meet production demands
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for operational coordination
- Maintain adherence to safety protocols, housekeeping standards, and regulatory requirements Develop cross-training initiatives to enhance workforce capability
Technical & Functional Expectations
Manufacturing Operations
- Ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality standards
- Monitor and improve operational workflows and cycle times
Electrical & Mechanical Systems
- Basic troubleshooting and modification of PLC systems and electrical components
- Understanding of motor controls, static drives, and power systems
Maintenance & Reliability
- Support implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
- Reduce downtime and improve equipment uptime
Process Improvement
- Apply continuous improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency
- Capture and document process learnings for operational optimization
Workforce Management
- Supervise, train, and evaluate hourly employees
- Foster a safe and compliant working environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in steel, metals, or chemical manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with annealing, pickling, or similar industrial processes
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
