Summary
The Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering & Infrastructure will lead the strategy, modernization, reliability, and operational performance of a complex global hybrid infrastructure environment. This is a highly visible leadership role overseeing a globally distributed engineering organization that supports critical operations across manufacturing, R&D, commercial, and corporate functions.
This leader will play a key role in advancing cloud modernization, automation, and Infrastructure as Code while ensuring the reliability, resiliency, security, and performance of business-critical platforms. The successful candidate will bring the technical depth to lead experienced engineers, influence architecture and design decisions, and translate complex infrastructure priorities into clear business impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a globally distributed Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering team, establishing engineering standards, operating models, performance expectations, documentation, and escalation processes.
- Own the strategy, architecture alignment, lifecycle management, and modernization roadmap for the global hybrid infrastructure environment.
- Provide leadership across Azure cloud infrastructure, VMware, Windows, enterprise storage and backup, data centers, Microsoft 365 dependencies, and related infrastructure platforms.
- Drive cloud modernization through automation, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, and repeatable deployment patterns.
- Improve infrastructure reliability, scalability, and performance through SLAs/SLOs, KPI reporting, observability, capacity planning, performance management, and service readiness.
- Own disaster recovery and infrastructure resiliency strategy, including backup and recovery, business continuity, RTO/RPO objectives, high availability, testing, runbooks, and remediation planning.
- Lead major incident and problem management efforts, including triage, communication, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and post-incident learning.
- Partner closely with Cybersecurity on infrastructure hardening, vulnerability management, access controls, secure operations, audit readiness, and recovery planning.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Networking, DevOps, application teams, NOC, Service Desk, project leadership, and business stakeholders to align infrastructure priorities with business needs.
- Provide technical and strategic direction to senior engineers, challenge recommendations when appropriate, remove roadblocks, and improve team effectiveness and delivery.
- Manage strategic technology vendors and partners, including performance, contracts, service delivery, and technology roadmaps.
- Own infrastructure budgeting, forecasting, capacity planning, cloud cost optimization, and OpEx/CapEx considerations.
- Communicate infrastructure health, risks, priorities, architectural trade-offs, and roadmaps to senior and executive leadership.
- Support a global 24x7 operating environment and participate in major escalations and critical incident response as needed.
- Stay current on evolving cloud and infrastructure technologies and identify opportunities to improve scalability, efficiency, reliability, and operational maturity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 12 years of progressive IT experience, including 8 years supporting enterprise-scale hybrid infrastructure and cloud environments.
- 7 years leading infrastructure engineering and/or operations teams with accountability for production services, performance, controls, metrics, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated experience leading geographically distributed or global engineering teams and developing experienced technical professionals.
- Strong technical foundation in enterprise infrastructure with the ability to credibly lead senior engineers and architects, challenge technical recommendations, and participate in architecture and design decisions.
- Deep Microsoft Azure experience, including Azure infrastructure, Landing Zones, cloud governance, scalability, capacity planning, performance, and cost optimization.
- Strong VMware and enterprise virtualization experience, including knowledge of the storage architecture supporting virtualized environments.
- Strong Windows infrastructure experience within large enterprise environments.
- Enterprise storage and backup expertise spanning cloud, virtualized, and on-premise environments.
- Strong disaster recovery and resiliency experience, including backup and recovery, business continuity, high availability, RTO/RPO planning, testing, and remediation.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 infrastructure and dependencies, including services such as Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
- Experience driving automation and Infrastructure as Code using technologies such as Terraform, Bicep/ARM, PowerShell, configuration management, and source control.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and modern cloud engineering practices, including CI/CD alignment, automated deployment patterns, and cloud development environments.
- Broad enterprise infrastructure knowledge encompassing data centers, networking integration, identity/RBAC, monitoring, connectivity, load balancing, and segmented environments.
- Strong observability and reliability engineering experience, including monitoring/logging strategy, dashboards, capacity and performance management, and SLA/SLO/KPI-driven operations.
- Proven mastery of ITIL-aligned incident, problem, and change management, including leadership during major incidents, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and post-incident improvement.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with Cybersecurity on hardening, vulnerability management, access controls, secure operations, compliance, audit readiness, and infrastructure resiliency.
- Experience managing enterprise technology vendors, budgets, forecasts, cloud/infrastructure costs, and OpEx/CapEx considerations.
- Experience supporting business-critical infrastructure within a complex, global 24x7 enterprise environment.
- Strong executive presence, stakeholder management, and business acumen with the ability to communicate technical risks, priorities, investment decisions, and trade-offs in terms of business impact.
- Ability to operate as a strategic leader while maintaining the technical depth necessary to understand what engineering teams are building and make informed technology decisions.
Salary : $210,000 - $240,000
