We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our team. The Buyer acquires materials, components, and services supporting production for commerical aerospace, defense and space customers. The Buyer will also provide support for company estimating activities with a focus on strategic sourcing and supplier relationships/management. This position works within a team of professionals and reports to the Materials Manager.

Essential Functions

• Establishes and/or maintains relationships with suppliers to obtain product and/or service information such as: pricing, availability and delivery schedules.
• Prepares bid requests and purchase orders.
• Frequent contact with suppliers working to keep open orders on-time and provides status to Management and Production of any concerns or issues.
• Works with suppliers to resolve discrepancies in: Delivery dates, Receiving and/or Quality Assurance issues.
• Reviews bid proposals and negotiates within budgetary limitations at the authority level dictated by Management.
• Receives Management approval for all first-time purchases and cost variances.
• Compiles records and reports.
• Purchase of materials, subcontract operations, hardware, and shop-requisitioned materials/supplies in support of Production.
• Issue purchase orders and changes to suppliers & vendors as directed by Inventory Control.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and experienced in Purchasing methods and disciplines.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production support role - Aerospace experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills and experienced in the use of MRP/ERP software and MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail.

Preferred

• Minimum Experience of 3-5 years in Procurement and Strategic Sourcing within the Aerospace, Space, or Defense industries.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.

The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Occasionally you may need to enter the machine shop which has exposure to machine oil, metal filings, unpleasant odors and noise. You are required to use safety glasses and at times ear protection.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
