Position Overview
Our team is currently looking for an ES&H Representative for one of our clients in the Mining Industry.
In this role, you will provide technical oversight of the project’s ES&H compliance activities through inspection of project field execution activities. You will assist project and construction management in implementing and complying with project safety requirements and in addressing ES&H issues as they arise during project execution. You will work directly with other project-level functions (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to assist them in addressing the applicable ES&H requirements in their work activities and conduct daily site surveillance to verify adequate use of PPE, routine equipment inspections, project ES&H initiatives.
Responsibilities & Essential Duties:
- Provide assistance in a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to facilitate implementation of companies ES&H program and ES&H Management System to include aiding compliance with company ES&H standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities.
- Maintains ES&H databases, inclusive incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions.
- Performs statistical analysis of ES&H data to help identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement.
- Identifies and supports any unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H personnel.
- Leads teams in conducting risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issues.
- Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention.
- Assists with incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident investigation reports.
- Recommend and implement improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential.
- Participates in and may lead employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.
- Research moderately complex issues and provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
- Provide support to ES&H field and office personnel, inclusive of all ES&H disciplines.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Skills):
- Requires a bachelor’s or master's degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental, safety, health or science-related discipline and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA 1926 and 1910 required Understanding of company ESH Core Processes required
- Can perform root cause analysis as needed for incident investigations Conducts Project Contractor Orientation Leads and implements Project ESH Audits, monitoring completion of specified corrective actions Coaches Contractor Project and Safety Team on the company processes and expectations
- Knowledge of safety programs/engineering systems, principles, and methodologies.
- Knowledge of national safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ regulatory requirements and responsibilities, industry standards/current practices for ES&H, and best management practices for minimizing potential ES&H risks during project execution.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risks and the mechanisms to mitigate them.
- Experience in ES&H assessments/inspection during construction.
- Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of ES&H subcontractors or consultants.
