GLO Resources is looking for an Assistant Machine Shop Foreman to work in New Orleans, LA. The pay is between $27 and $35 per hour based on experience. This position works full-time from Monday through Friday with some overtime and weekend work available.
Position Summary: The Assistant Machine Shop Foreman supports the Machine Shop Foreman by helping oversee daily machine shop operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This position provides hands-on leadership, assists with production planning, supports machinists, and helps maintain workflow, equipment, and safety throughout the shop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with supervising daily machine shop operations and assigning work.
- Perform and oversee machining operations using manual machine tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Verify completed work using precision measuring instruments.
- Monitor production schedules, labor hours, and job progress.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely completion of work.
- Train and mentor machinists and shop personnel.
- Enforce safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping procedures.
- Assist with troubleshooting machining issues and resolving production challenges.
- Maintain shop equipment, documentation, and production records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing, industrial, marine, or heavy repair environment.
- Strong knowledge of manual machining operations, tooling, and precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to complete job documentation.
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
- Experience with CNC machining, marine repair, welding, fabrication, or estimating is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves regular physical activity, including:
- Standing for prolonged periods.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing.
- Working in trenches and around heavy equipment.
- Pushing and pulling heavy materials and equipment.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must pass a physical, drug screen, and background check.
