Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Machine Shop Manager for our machine shop in Houma, LA. The Machine Shop Manager will oversee daily operations, including quoting new jobs, production planning, employee supervision, and ensuring quality standards while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
This is a leadership role that requires both strong technical knowledge and experience along with effective team management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, support, and lead a team of machinist and shop employees.
- Oversee daily machine shop operations to ensure production goals are met
- Manage workflow, scheduling, and job prioritization
- Ensure quality control standards are consistently followed
- Enforce safety policies and maintain a safe work environment
- Communicate with customers regarding timelines and project updates
- Quote potential jobs
- Work with purchasing to source necessary materials and supplies
Qualifications
- 5 years of machining experience (CNC and/or manual machining preferred)
- 2 years of supervisory or management experience
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and quality standards
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Working knowledge of shop safety standards
- Experience with production scheduling
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong technical skills- experience with Microsoft Outlook & Excel, experience working with ERP systems
