Position: School Secretary - Principal Secretary
Location: Glenwood Elementary School
Pay: In accordance with the CBA: AFSCME, Council 93, Local 2885 – Clerical Contract
Hours: 40 hrs/wk; 200 day work year
The Secretary shall be a high school graduate, be highly qualified in English, grammar, and typing. The Secretary must be mature and discreet and be able to meet people and handle sensitive material. The Secretary shall have three years of successful office experience with progressively more important responsibilities. The Secretary shall be computer literate and familiar with necessary computer applications:
The Principal Secretary is a member of the clerical staff and as such is responsible to provide clerical support to the administrative staff, to act as a receptionist, when necessary, and to perform the various changing tasks of her office to ensure that the office operation is run smoothly.
In carrying out these responsibilities, the Secretary shall:
1.Maintain student records including entering information into Powerschool and maintaining daily attendance records;
2.Conduct School ordering of supplies including entering requisitions into Munis and checking and distributing supplies;
3.Work with Principal to maintain checking and savings accounts applicable to student activity funds and petty cash;
4.Maintain calendar of school activities and a calendar of community use of building including invoicing and handling of these funds;
5.Submit school payroll grids , timesheets and applicable payroll forms. Enter information into Munis as necessary;
6.Attempt to secure substitute personnel prior to referring to District Substitute Coordinator;
7.Greet all visitors courteously, determine his/her needs, check appointments, and direct or escort them to the proper person/office;
8.Answer office telephone and responds appropriately to request and/or channels calls to the proper person/office;
9. Complete appropriate paperwork, forms, requests, responses, or other such activity at the direction of his/her supervisor in a professional and appropriate manner including but not limited to School Messenger communications, employee reimbursement requests and other Principal requests
10. Works with District bus Company and Central office to ensure busing routes and student assignments are maintained
11. Utilizes the computer hardware and software placed at his/her disposal in the completion of his/her assigned tasks;
12. Perform any other related duties or assignment as directed by his/her supervisor.
