Job Title: VAP Packaging Operator
Department: VAP
Reports To: Packaging Room Supervisor
Job Summary:
The VAP Packaging Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining packaging equipment used for “ready-to-eat” leafy greens. This role ensures products are packaged accurately, safely, and efficiently while meeting production, quality, and food safety standards.
Hiring Needs:
Urgently hiring 6 Machine Operators
3 for 1st Shift
3 for 2nd Shift
Minimum 1 year of machine operating experience required
Schedule:
1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
6–7 days per week initially based on production needs
Pay:
Starting at $17.96/hour (final rate may be discussed based on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
Operate scales, baggers, belts, and conveyors for packaging food products
Set up and adjust equipment to meet daily production goals and handle different products (SKUs)
Ensure all packaging codes (bags, boxes, labels) are accurate
Track and account for materials such as film, ribbons, and packaging supplies
Perform basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
Complete minor maintenance and report complex issues to maintenance team
Maintain equipment cleanliness and proper working condition
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and quality standards; report concerns immediately
Assist with other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provide daily guidance to 4–6 production employees (ProTech I/II)
Support team operations and workflow
May provide input on performance but does not have authority to hire or terminate
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
At least 1 year of machine operator experience required (food processing preferred)
Basic math skills and ability to complete written documentation clearly
Ability to communicate effectively; bilingual is a plus
Basic computer skills required
Forklift certification preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Ability to safely operate machinery
Work Environment:
Cold environment (32°F–40°F)
Exposure to machinery, wet floors, loud noise, and food-processing chemicals
Must follow all safety, food safety, and sanitation policies at all times
