Position Summary:

The Tutor/Program Facilitator is a part-time position that combines direct tutoring support with program facilitation. This individual is responsible for providing academic assistance, implementing Girls Inc. curricula, and creating a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment for girls. The role requires balancing individualized academic tutoring with broader youth development activities that align with the Girls Inc. mission.

As a role model and mentor, the Tutor/Program Facilitator motivates and inspires girls to be active participants in their own growth and learning. The position requires excellent classroom management skills, creativity in lesson delivery, and the ability to collaborate with staff, schools, families, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Tutoring & Educational Support

Provide individualized and group tutoring to support academic success in subjects such as math, reading, science, and language arts.
  • Assist girls with homework, study skills, test preparation, and virtual learning assignments.
  • Create a supportive environment that promotes persistence, independent learning, and academic confidence.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Program Facilitation & Lesson Delivery

Prepare and implement Girls Inc. research-based, age-appropriate programs across core focus areas: academic enrichment, health and wellness, economic literacy, leadership, and STEM.
  • Facilitate interactive projects and lessons that promote creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Incorporate experiential, hands-on activities to foster exploration and engagement.
  • Design mission-related events and activities that reflect Girls Inc. values.
  • Maintain high standards of program quality, ensuring lessons are well-prepared, intentional, and impactful.
Youth Development & Mentorship

Serve as a positive role model and mentor, promoting girls’ well-being, confidence, and leadership.
  • Support girls in developing decision-making, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills.
  • Manage classroom dynamics effectively, using positive behavior management strategies.
  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with girls while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Encourage consistent participation in Girls Inc. programming and promote long-term engagement.
Program Monitoring, Evaluation, & Administration

Collect, track, and report program and student data (e.g., attendance, behavior, academic progress).
  • Establish measurable program goals and objectives; evaluate and report outcomes each semester.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors to support program improvement and relevance.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit reports, lesson plans, and evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and program procedures.
Collaboration & Professional Development

Work collaboratively with staff, school administrators, families, and community partners to support girls’ success.
  • Attend staff meetings, planning sessions, and peer workgroups to share ideas and strengthen program delivery.
  • Collaborate with other youth-serving organizations to enhance programming opportunities.
  • Participate in conferences, trainings, and workshops to build professional skills in tutoring, child development, and youth engagement.
  • Stay informed about current issues and best practices in education and girls’ development.
Additional Duties

Transport participants when needed (must be capable of driving a 15-passenger van).
  • Respond to requests for information promptly and meet all deadlines.
  • Uphold and enforce safety rules and regulations at all program sites.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of Girls Inc.
Qualifications

Required:

Associate’s degree in Education, Child Development, or related field (Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred).
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working in a youth organization, school, or related setting.
  • Experience working directly with girls/youth ages 5–18.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal).
  • Classroom and behavior management skills with the ability to address sensitive issues effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility in schedule and approach; able to adapt to changing needs.
  • Must be 21 or older with a clean driving record and capable of driving a 15-passenger van.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check, child abuse & neglect check, and drug test.
Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • Teaching, tutoring, or curriculum development experience.
  • Bilingual (Spanish strongly preferred).
  • Technologically proficient and comfortable integrating digital tools into programming.
  • Creative, innovative, and resourceful in program delivery.
Job Type & Compensation

  • Job Type: Part-time
  • Pay Range: $17.00 – $22.00 per hour
  • Benefits: 401(k) plan available for part-time and full-time employees (not applicable for seasonal staff).
