PRIMARY PURPOSE
Gilbert House Children's Museum welcomes over 95,000 visitors annually and provides a multitude of opportunities for families to engage in learning through creative play. The Visitor Service Associate is responsible for promoting a fun, safe, and clean learning experience for all visitors.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS
Gilbert House Children’s Museum provides learning through creative play opportunities for children, with focus on children ages 2-10. Visitor Service Associates are responsible for providing a positive customer service experience for guests, be able to manage a variety of tasks, and must work well in a team environment. They must be able to be positive and perform in a professional and courteous manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exhibit Restaging – Make sure all exhibits are staged and fully stocked before opening, throughout the day and at closing.
- Sanitation – Follow daily sanitation schedule for exhibit components and sanitation protocols.
- Grounds Upkeep - Maintaining the outside grounds to be clean, safe, and well managed.
- Museum Rounds – Walk the entire Museum and Outdoor Discovery Area a minimum of once per hour.
- Welcome Desk Support – Provide staff with 10–minute breaks and check-in with staff regularly throughout the day.
- Customer Service – Interact with visitors and promote memberships, learning opportunities, events, and activities.
- Birthday Parties – Assist in staging room and provide additional customer service care, when needed.
- Communication – Represent the values of the museum in all communication, appear for huddles, meetings, and respond to teams messages.
- Staff Meetings – Attend required and scheduled staff and committee meetings.
- Safety – Report all safety concerns to the Manager on Site.
- Museum Upkeep – Help with any tasks that keep the museum cleaner, organized, and ready for safe, clean play. This also may include janitorial tasks as well. Other duties as assigned.
- Event Support - Support Museum events with keeping spaces clean and managed. Following though on tasks as given
Experience and Qualifications
Candidates should possess the following skills and experiences:
1. Proven experience in guest services or customer service roles is highly desirable.
2. Background in hospitality is an advantage.
3. Experience working with cleaning supplies and how to handle supplies carefully.
4. Knowledge in cleaning and how to keep children areas clean.
5. Knowledge on how to upkeep outside spaces/gardens
6. Cash handling experience is helpful for managing transactions accurately. When covering breaks at the Welcome Desk.
7. Experience utilizing Microsoft Teams for communication.

Pay: Start pay: $15.55 After 90-days: $16.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
