The Head of Finance is the primary financial steward for the company and serves as the key strategic business partner to the local leadership team. The role provides independent financial insight, strategic challenge, and decision support to drive operational performance, cost competitiveness, profitable growth, and strong governance. This role interprets financial intelligence generated by the centralized North American Controlling Hub, converting it into execution-ready business plans, risk assessments, and forward-looking recommendations that support enterprise objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:
Performance Management & Business Partnering
- Act as the senior finance representative for the company, articulating financial performance, trends, and strategic implications to local leadership and the North America CFO.
- Drive the monthly and quarterly performance management rhythm for the business, synthesizing data from Controlling Hub into clear insights and executive-ready narratives.
- Provide strategic challenge to Operations, Supply Chain, Deal Desk and department managers on key drivers such as spending, throughput, absorption, scrap, and productivity.
- Ensure company performance aligns with broader North American and global financial objectives.
- Build strong relationships across functions to influence decision-making in the interest of the company’s strategic objectives.
- Partner with Controlling Hub to develop annual Budgets, quarterly Forecasts and monthly rolling outlooks
- Facilitate planning discussions with cost center leaders, aligning resource decisions with performance expectations.
- Evaluate and validate capital investment proposals through rigorous financial modelling (NPV, IRR, payback).
- Identify long-term trends and strategic risks/opportunities that inform the regional financial roadm
- Partner with Sales and Deal Desk to assess pricing strategies, customer profitability, and margin expansion opportunities.
- Analyze conversion cost, absorption, and cost-to-serve economics; recommend structural improvements to enhance competitiveness.
- Provide financial leadership to continuous improvement initiatives and cost transformation programs.
- Act as the Canadian owner of working capital governance, ensuring alignment to regional targets.
- Monitor and challenge inventory levels, WIP aging, and obsolescence risks; partner with Operations to drive improvement plans.
- Support FP&A in developing cash flow and working capital forecasts with clear accountability to local actions.
- Ensure adherence to policies at the site (Capex approvals, delegations, inventory controls).
- Act as the local Internal Controls System (ICS) Coordinator and Compliance Ambassador
- Manage and coordinate year‑end external audits, internal audits, and ad‑hoc audit requests, serving as the primary liaison with auditors and key stakeholders.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial statements through robust quality control reviews and adherence to accounting standards and internal policies.
- Oversee audit readiness, issue resolution, and implementation of audit findings to strengthen internal controls and financial governance.
- Provide backup support to other Site Controllers (or FP&A Hub) during vacations or peak periods
- Act as local finance lead on cross-functional initiatives such as automation projects and ERP enhancements
- Partner with FP&A Hub for ad-hoc deep-dive analysis, as needed
- Other analysis and special projects as required
Skills And Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 10 years’ experience in FP&A, with experience in manufacturing finance or plant operations an asset.
- Strong knowledge of standard costing, absorption, and variance analysis.
- Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills; able to challenge constructively.
- Proficiency with SAP is a benefit, advanced Excel / BI tools preferred.
- Effective presentation skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Degree in Finance, Business or other quantitative discipline strong asset
- CPA or CFA designation are a strong asset
- Occasional travel between office locations (10 miles)
