We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Data Center Estimator to support large-scale mission-critical construction projects for a Top 30 ENR General Contractor client. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in preconstruction, budgeting, and estimating for complex data center environments.
The Data Center Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for hyperscale, colocation, and mission-critical projects while collaborating closely with project management, engineering, subcontractors, and clients throughout the preconstruction process.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual, schematic, budgetary, and final cost estimates for data center construction projects.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, RFPs, and bid documents to determine project scope and pricing requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical, mechanical, structural, and low-voltage systems.
- Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier pricing proposals.
- Develop labor, material, equipment, and indirect cost estimates.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, operations teams, and clients during preconstruction activities.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies while maintaining project quality and performance standards.
- Maintain historical cost databases, estimating benchmarks, and pricing tools.
- Participate in bid reviews, proposal development, and client presentations.
- Evaluate project risks, assumptions, exclusions, and schedule impacts.
- Support change order pricing and cost analysis throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and emerging data center technologies.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field preferred.
- 3–10 years of estimating experience in construction, MEP, mission-critical, or data center projects.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure systems, including:
- Electrical distribution systems
- UPS systems
- Generators
- HVAC and cooling systems
- Structured cabling
- Fire protection and suppression systems
- Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, Accubid, Trimble, OST, Procore, or similar platforms.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost modeling.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center projects.
- Familiarity with BIM/VDC coordination processes.
- Knowledge of NEC, ASHRAE, and mission-critical construction standards.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, CEP, LEED, or related credentials are a plus.
Salary : $110,000 - $150,000
